Changing Gateways
From Witopiawiki
Our SSL installers have easy pulldown menus pre-loaded for instantaneous switching, however, as we add new gateways you may not have them in your list of WiTopia gateways. You can manually create them by following the instructions below.
If you would like to connect to our Alternate Port servers (one in UK, US, and Asia) or 256 bit Encryption (US, UK, Asia) servers, just click on either of the links and follow those specific instructions.

To create a new personalVPN⢠configuration file to connect to a different gateway, please do the following:
1. Make a copy of an existing configuration file
2. Rename it to something identifiable (name of the City, Country)
3. Edit the config file
If you are running Windows, right-click on the gui icon in the taskbar, select "Edit Config" or if you use our latest software with "menus" choose a location and then "Edit Config".
If you are a Mac user, click on the Tunnelblick icon, choose "Details..." and then "Edit Configuration"
Look for the following line and change it from:
remote vpn.XXX.witopia.net 1194 (where XXX is the 3 letter airport code
to one of the above options
For example, if you want to use WiTopia's San Francisco, CA gateway, you would change:
remote vpn.XXX.witopia.net 1194
to
remote vpn.sfo.witopia.net 1194
Note: With a Mac, you may have to do the following before Tunnelblick will allow you to save the new configuration
a. Go into openvpn folder found here: Home Folder -> Library -> openvpn b. Highlight/select the personalVPN⢠.conf file c. Go to File menu at top and choose "Get Info" and change permissions at bottom to allow "everyone" to "Read & Write". d. Modify and Save the config again.
4. Save the config
5. Connect to the VPN
